APX4000

4000 series- LARGER INSERTS
The 4000 series is designed with larger inserts than the existing APX300 range and are capable of 15mm depth of cut. This allows larger metal removal rates for increased efficiency whilst maintaining a lower than normal cutting resistance. The extra thickness of the insert compared to the 3000 series also allows greater reliability, especially when coupled with the high rake angle and helix design of the insert and cutter body. The APX 4000 series is available in a shank type from Ø25 – Ø40 and a face mill type from Ø40 – Ø125 and complemented by inserts in grades VP15TF and VP20RT.

APX - MULTI-FUNCTIONAL TOOLING
Multi-functionality was a key factor in the original design parameters of the APX series. To save valuable tool change and down times, several modes of milling can be performed with one tool:- shoulder milling, facing, pocketing, ramping, helical cutting, slotting and 3-D copying are all possible. To further enhance versatility, a range of offset, long shank types to prevent work piece interference are available for long reach applications. All tools have a through hole feature for air or liquid coolant to drastically improve chip dispersal and enable safe pocketing and slotting where conventionally coolant fed tools would suffer from chip jamming

APX series INSERTS
Low cutting resistance inserts have been developed using advanced cutting simulation methods. This has meant that efficient milling is now also possible on low rigidity and thin wall applications where previously only solid type tools were suitable. The extra efficiency and sharpness given by the inserts also allows a better dispersal of heat and promotes an ideal chip shape for easy waste management.

Miracle coated VP15TF grade for the inserts provides a stable material for the demands of reliable edge life combined with the durability necessary for high feed conditions. Inventory costs of inserts can be vastly reduced because of the wide application range of VP15TF. Materials from carbon and alloy steel through to stainless steels, cast iron and difficult to cut materials can all be machined effectively. In addition the new VP20RT inserts are available for tougher applications such as machining stainless steels.

PRECISION AND DURABILITY
A large amount of backing metal has been used on all cutter bodies behind the insert to give stability and prevent flexing and vibration under heavy loads. The body itself is made from a heat resistant steel alloy and in combination with a special surface treatment, long life and durability of the APX3000 cutter body is assured.

Better vertical wall accuracy is possible when compared to conventional products due to the convex edge of the insert producing a smoother wall path with each successive depth of cut. This means that a finishing tool has less metal to remove and ultimately results in cost savings of finishing operations.
