25º Profile Holder
Standard solution to a special problem

December 19, 2008
Profile Holder

To prevent interference between the tool and workpiece during copying operations, 35° rhombic inserts are often used. However, when machining steep taper faces and complex geometries, there are cases where these inserts cannot be used. Mitsubishi’s latest Profile Holders can be used for these challenging operations and provide a reduction of cycle times and also save considerable costs compared to special inserts.

Additionally, single tool usage enables quicker programme proving and reduces tool changes during machining to increases overall efficiency. Furthermore, due to a larger clearance between the workpiece and the insert, chip jamming and damage to the surface finish can be prevented.

Features
1. 25° rhombic positive insert
Are used for various machining applications where the interference with the workpiece is liable to occur when using a conventional 35° rhombic insert. In comparison with a negative insert, positive inserts have a much higher sharpness, and cover a broader range of copying applications.
2. Double clamp system
The holder uses a highly reliable double clamp system that combines screw clamping and a clamp bridge. Inserts are held securely even during copying operations where the cutting forces act in all directions. Additionally, use of a low profile clamp bridge ensures that coolant reaches the actual cutting edge.
3. Tough UE6020
CVD coated grade UE6020 is available and delivers high fracture resistance and allows for stable cutting over a range of tough applications.
