Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has additionally launched “Insert with clamp holes” is added to “MBS140” CBN grade for cast iron and sintered alloy. This new series will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Toshio Takizawa, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).

Cast iron with superior durability and vibration absorption properties has been used in various fields such as machine tools and agricultural machinery parts. Therefore, there is a strong need to improve productivity.
MBS140, CBN grade for cast iron and sintered alloy has been received a favorable reception as a grade that enables high depths of cut and high efficiency machining. The movement of insert occurs in the deep cutting of cast-metal or a plunge cut since the conventional MBS140 was the insert applied to only clamp-on type holder due to no holes for clamp.

This time, we have fixed the problem that the insert moves in the deep cutting and high efficiency machining by developing the insert with clamp holes which enhanced clamp rigidity.

Features of Solid CBN grade for cast iron and sintered alloy “MBS140”

1.Achieve a deeper cutting compared to CBN brazed tools due to the insert fully made by sintered CBN

2.Achieve a high speed and a high efficient machining in rough machining of cast iron.

3.Insert with clamp holes are available as standard. It enhances a clamp rigidity compared to insert without clamp holes. The problem of movement of insert in the deep cutting and high efficiency machining has been fixed.
