Series expansion - Six types of PVD coated carbide grades added to Screw-on insert type shoulder milling cutter “ASX400 series”

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has additionally launched new grades for “ASX400 series”, screw-on insert type shoulder milling cutter. PVD coated carbide grades; MP6120, MP6130, MP7130, MP7140, MP9120, MP9130 have been added. These new grades will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Toshio Takizawa, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).

Screw-on insert type shoulder milling cutter “ASX400 series” have received a favorable reception as a general use shoulder milling cutter. Mitsubishi Materials Corporation will release an additional insert series for “ASX400 series”, which are PVD coated carbide grades “MP6120/MP6130” is optimized for milling of steel, PVD coated carbide grades “MP7130/MP7140” is optimized for milling of stainless steel and PVD coated carbide grades “MP9120/MP9130” is optimized for milling of difficult-to-cut material such as heat resistant alloy and titanium alloy. This series expansion enables to select the optimum grade according to work materials, thereby achieving stable machining.

Features of PVD coated carbide grades “MP6120”, “MP6130”, “MP7130”, “MP7140”, “MP9120” and “MP9130”

1.Adopting accumulated Al-Ti-Cr-N based PVD coating with superior wear resistance, heat resistance and welding resistance

2.New PVD coating technology “TOUGH-Stechnology” prevents the development of thermal crack usually associated with milling and dramatically improves fracture resistance

3.Al-Cr coating with low coefficient of friction against steels is applied to the outermost layer of PVD coated carbide grades “MP6120/MP6130”, thereby offering excellent welding resistance for steel milling

4.Ti coating with low coefficient of friction against stainless steels is applied to the outermost layer of PVD coated carbide grades “MP7130/MP7140”, thereby offering excellent welding resistance for stainless steel milling

5.Cr coating with low coefficient of friction against heat resistant alloy and titanium alloy is applied to the outermost layer of PVD coated carbide grades “MP9120/MP9130”, thereby offering excellent welding resistance for heat resistant alloy and titanium alloy milling

6.All the new PVD coated carbide grades will be available as standard for JL breaker, JM breaker and JH breaker. Three types of grades “MP6120”, “MP9120” and “MP9130” will be available as standard for FT breaker targeted for unstable machining
