Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has additionally launched new series for Vibration Control End Mills for Difficult-to-cut Materials “SMART MIRACLE End Mills Series”, which are 1) VQ-MHV 4 flute square end mill (M) Irregular helix, Undercut shank type, 2) VQ-JHV 4 flute square end mill (J) Irregular helix (Semi-long cut length type), 3) VQ-SVR 4 flute roughing end mill (S) Irregular helix, 4) VQ-XL Multi flute long neck end mill Irregular helix. These series will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Toshio Takizawa, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).
In recent years, there has been an increase demand in high efficiency machining for difficult-to-cut materials such as stainless alloy, titanium alloy, heat resistant alloy and corrosion resistant alloy used for aerospace and medical applications. Vibration Control End Mill for Difficult-to-cut Materials “SMART MIRACLE End Mills Series” have reduced cutting resistance and improved chip discharge performance. Additionally, the unique geometry helps to control vibration, thereby achieving high efficiency machining and longer tool life.
1.By adopting both newly developed (Al,Cr)N coating, “Hyper Arc Activation Technology” and newly established technology smooth surface “ Zero-μ Surface” that provide superior welding resistance and smooth chip discharge, as well as decreasing cutting resistance, this achieves high efficiency machining and longer tool life.
2.Addition of undercut sizes to VQ-MHV 4 flute square end mill (M) Irregular helix. This achieves good surface finishes by using a curved edge that reduces step differences in vertical wall surfaces at the shank side of the flute.
3.VQ-JHV 4 flute square end mill (J) Irregular helix (Semi-long cut length type) delivers overwhelmingly high vibration resistance by adopting irregular helix angle that helps to enable deep wall machining.
4.VQ-SVR 4 flute roughing end mill (S) Irregular helix gives superior vibration resistance and fracture resistance compared to conventional roughing end mills due to the employment of both irregular helix angle and asymmetric nick.
5.VQ-XL Multi flute long neck end mill Irregular helix enables to machine a highly accurate torx pocket used for medical purpose and small parts, and at the same time improves the chip discharge performance. Additionally, higher efficiency machining and longer tool life are achieved as compared with conventional 2 flute mills. Product ranges are fromΦ0.2mm toΦ0.3mm with 3 flute and fromΦ0.4mm toΦ1mm with 4 flute.
