New BMR Rough Boring Cutter

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Advanced Materials & Tools Company (President - Fumio Tsurumaki, Headquarters: 1-3-2 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has launched BMR, a new rough boring cutter.

The newly developed BMR rough boring cutter is used when roughing and semi finishing automotive components such as a cylinder bores. This cutter achieves high efficiency and accuracy as well as low cost through the adoption of double sided, 6 corner inserts.
The new cutter body will be available as a made to order item and the new inserts used on the cutter will be available as stock standard items.

Features of the BMR rough boring cutter

1. The high clamping rigidity improves fracture resistance and enables high feed machining.

2. The adjustment system for run-out enables utilisation of inexpensive M-class inserts.

3. Two types of M-class inserts are available as a stock standard item: 6 corner inserts for high rigidity and 12 corner inserts for economy and efficiency.
