Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Advanced Materials & Tools Company (President - Fumio Tsurumaki, Headquarters: 1-3-2 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku,Tokyo) has launched a new short flute length type for the SE high precision HSS drill series.
The SE series of high precision drills creates lower costs, creates fewer burrs and provides smooth surfaces and high precision holes when drilling steel, cast iron, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. This is due to the sharp cutting edge, improved welding resistance and the smooth chip disposal properties.
The short flute length type has been added to provide coverage of a wider range of applications.
1. Good balance of cutting edge sharpness and excellent wear resistance created by the adopted D-STH surface treatment. This treatment has a deep hardened layer to prevent wear area on the cutting edge.
2. Finer diameter tolerance compared to conventionally coated HSS drills.
3. Minute holes in the coating created by the proprietary D-STH surface treatment holds coolant that results in superior lubricity when compared to conventionally coated HSS drills.
