Launch of DLC2MB, 2-Flute DLC Coated Ball Nose End Mill

March 28, 2005

After recently developing and manufacturing a new end mill, Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo) will launch a 2 flute DLC coated ball nose end mill for non-ferrous metals, called DLC-2MB.
DLC-2MB    The use of high weld-resistant DLC coating makes this new end mill series ideal for machining non-ferrous and non-metals, such as aluminium alloys, GFRP, CFRP, copper alloys and graphite.

The new original coating, jointly developed with NAGATA SEIKI CO., LTD., has substantially increased adhesion strength to the substrate compared to previous DLC coatings. As a result, the DLC2MB end mills achieve a hardness similar to that of CVD diamond coating.

Available now is a wide range of DLC coated end mills, the DLC-2MB ball nose type and the successful DLC2MA, 2 flute slot drill type, released in 2004.
