Additional Φ35 Size for the AQX Series

October 03, 2005

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new 35mm diameter size for its AQX series. This new end mill will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).

AQX   The AQX is the ultimate, multi-functional indexable insert end mill currently available. A single tool and insert geometry can machine in a wide variety of cutting modes such as shoulder milling, grooving, drilling, helical milling, pocketing and ramping. These multi functional capabilities have helped the AQX enjoy a reputation for user friendliness in the market place.

The new 35mm diameter AQX will be released to respond to a strong customer demand. This is available as a standard edge type (4 inserts) and a short edge type (2 inserts), each is available with standard and long type shanks. Both types are available with and without through coolant / air holes to give customers extra choice.

Key features of the AQX are as follows.

1.
A centre cutting edge enables drilling without the need of a prepared hole.
2.
Tool management is made easier by only using one type of insert on the body.
3.
The lower cutting edge consists of 2 edges, resulting in higher cutting edge strength and increasing the tool life.
4.
Through coolant or air holes are designed into the tool body to improve cooling and chip disposal.
5.
The short edge type body with 2 inserts on the end cutting face is available from stock.
6.
A general-purpose M2 breaker and a sharp G1 type breaker are available as standard.
