MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills with features such as superior chip control,
high accuracy, long tool life have enjoyed popularity amongst the metal cutting industry
since their release in April 2002.
The new drills for 8 x D depths maintain the same cutting abilities
as the original MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills. However, these new drills are suitable for
(1)continuous feed drilling of deeper 8 x D hole depths.
- 1.
- Centripetal cutting edge geometry for accurate entry into a work piece. This enables
stable machining at the important initial stages of drilling, even with an 8 x D drill
length, therefore helping to provide overall superior hole accuracy.
- 2.
- The unique, optimized cross sectional flute shape designed for efficient chip disposal
allows continuous feed drilling where conventionally a peck cycle would be required.
This results in greatly improved machining efficiency.
- 3.
- MIRACLE VP coating with high resistance to heat, wear and oxidation makes the drills
suitable for (2)MQL machining, thereby extending tool life and reducing coolant costs.
< Word explanation >
(1)Continuous feed (machining):
- Complete hole drilling at a fixed feed without a peck cycle or retraction of the drill to clear the chips.
(2)MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) machining:
- Machining with a minimum amount of coolant. A small amount of coolant mixed with air (mist coolant) is sprayed on the drill during cutting. Depending on the amount of coolant sprayed, MQL machining is also called semi-dry machining (approximately 10cc/hr) or mist machining (approximately 10cc/min).
A total of 100 different types of the 8 x D MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills are available. All have through coolant holes as standard and can be supplied in diameters f3mm – f12mm at 0.1mm intervals and from f12mm – f16mm at 0.5mm intervals. f14.2mm is also available.
