The MIRACLE coated WSTAR drill
is a general-purpose solid carbide drill. Capable of machining a vast range of work materials,
they are suitable for high efficiency, precision machining. Since the launch of the Wstar
range in April 2002, the series has been expanded. In July 2005, an 8 x D range, suitable
for 8 x drill diameter hole depths was introduced and that addition is now followed by
a range of small diameter drills.
For small diameter hole drilling, MIRACLE coated ZET1 drills have previously been
the favoured choice. Meanwhile, MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills were developed and produced
on a commercial basis. This latest series is now used especially when precision and high
efficiency is required for drilling of small diameter holes, for diameters up to φ2.0mm
and for 5 x D and deeper hole depths.
Features of the smaller diameter, MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills are as follows.
- 1.
- New tool geometry features such as web thickness, flute width and the helix angle
combine to give superior chip breaking and chip control for stable machining and longer
tool life. These factors are especially important when machining stainless steel and
smaller holes up to φ2.0mm.
- 2.
- Optimized cross sectional flute geometry appropriate for different hole depths gives
superior chip evacuation and greatly increases machining efficiency
- 3.
- MIRACLE VP coating gives high resistance to heat, wear and oxidation and extends
tool life.
The smaller diameter, MIRACLE coated WSTAR drills are available as standard with through coolant holes, for 5 x D and 12 x D types.
