Addition to the APX3000 series: New long and extra long shanks

  Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured new long and extra long shank types for the APX3000 series. These new cutters will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
APX3000  The APX3000 series was originally released into the market in October 2004. The series was successful in the market. In the original series the long type was only available in an offset type. Due to increasing market demands a straight long shank and an extra long shank for large overhang applications was added to the APX3000 series. The extra long type has a length of 260mm and is suitable for deep milling of moulds and other parts. The additions to the series fully incorporates the APX features of low cutting resistance.

Key features of the APX3000 long and extra long shank types

Suitable for a wide range of cutting applications with addition of the straight long shank type to the conventional offset long type.

  • The extra long type has the maximum overall length of 260mm, therefore making it suitable for deep milling of moulds.
3.
A combination with the APX features of low cutting resistance allows a reduction of vibration to a minimum even when machining with long overhangs.
