Launch of 8 x D type holders for TAW drills

  Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new 8 x D type drill tool holder for the TAW range. These new holders will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
Launch of 8 x D type holders for TAW drills   TAW drills with features such as superior chip control, high accuracy, long tool life have enjoyed popularity amongst the metal cutting industry since their release in July 2004.
  The 8 x D type holders for TAW drills maintain the same cutting abilities as the original TAW drills. In addition, by improving the flute geometry for good chip discharge and high rigidity, these holders are made suitable for drilling of 8 x D hole depths.

Features of 8 x D holders for TAW drills

The cross sectional flute geometry near the cutting edges is designed to form compact chips and the wide flute geometry at the end edge is optimised for good chip discharge. Furthermore, by applying smooth surface treatment on the flute, more efficient chip disposal becomes possible.

By improving surface roughness of the outer surface of holders, welding caused by chip packing can be prevented.
3.
Holders other than TAWLNH1400S16 and 1500S20 can be used with the conventional U type inserts. However, for more stable deep hole machining, it is recommended to use H type inserts.
