The HSK turning tools for multi-task machines are based on the “ICTM-HSK standard” that was formulated by the Interface Committee for Turning Mills that comprises of nine carbide tool manufacturers and eight tooling manufacturers. By adopting this standard for multi-task machine spindles, it becomes possible to use tool holders on both multi-task machines and machining centres, and the existing series has already enjoyed a good reputation in the market. The latest addition to the HSK tool series includes HSK63 type double clamp tool holders and HSK100 type tool holders with larger sizes. Furthermore, with a view to making the contents of the ICTM-HSK system an international standard, Japan is now making a proposal on the ICTM-HSK standard to ISO under the title of “HSK-T”, and use of this standard is expected to expand rapidly on a global scale. In line with the global standardization of HSK-T type, Mitsubishi Materials will change the order numbers of all HSK tools to the numbers corresponding to HSK-T.
