Addition of ø63-BT50 shank holders to the SPX end mil series

April 18, 2008

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured new ø63-BT50 shank holders for its SPX deep shoulder milling end mill series. These new holders will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
SPXThe addition of the series offers increased tool rigidity and enables larger depths of cut in both axial and radial directions. This results in further improvement of machining efficiency.

Key features of the SPX, ø63-BT50 holder

1.
Cutting edge lengths: 110mm~261mm (261mm is newly added to the conventional ø50 series)
2.
The unique wavy cutting edge geometry helps to dampen the impact when the cutting edge engages the workpiece and prevent vibrations.
3.
The inserts are located in the flutes so that two curved lines of the wavy cutting edges are alternatively crossed to finely break the chips. Improving chip disposal and reducing cutting resistance.
4.
To prevent the tool body from coming into contact with the work piece and also to prevent chip from coming into contact with the body, a spiral relief is used.
