Launch of the AHX640W face milling cutter series

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new indexable face milling cutter series, the AHX640W for high efficiency machining of cast irons. These will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).
Cart iron that offers high durability and vibration absorption properties is used for various components such as diesel engines, automotive suspension components, dies & moulds and machine cases, and overall cost reductions with improved productivity and reduced machining costs have become a global issue.The AHX640W face milling cutter offers greatly improved productivity and high cost efficiency when machining of cast iron and ductile cast iron parts due to the use of the newly developed CVD coated grade (MC5020) and low resistance, double-sided heptagonal inserts.

- Heptagonal double sided inserts offer the use of 14 corners that enable substantial reductions in tool costs.

- Double positive cutting edge geometry that offers low cutting resistance and the extra fine pitch design that employs a unique wedge clamp system ensures ultra high efficiency machining.

- Newly developed CVD coated grade MC5020 for cast iron milling with a balanced combination of high wear, fracture and welding resistance allows stable machining for prolonged periods.
