Launch of the MP breaker inserts for steel turning

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured the MP breaker inserts for steel turning. These will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).

In line with the trend toward industrial globalization, the parts manufacturers in the automotive and machine industries are working towards cost reduction to increase their competitiveness. However, in actual production lines, there are such problems as chip jamming due to irregular depths of cut, fracturing of the cutting edge and deterioration of chip control conditions due to the erosion of the chip breaker when high speed machining, and these make it difficult to improve overall work efficiency. For such applications, inserts that can cover a wide chip control range and ensure stable chip control until the last stage of tool life are suitable. Use of the MP breaker makes it possible to carry out stable machining for prolonged periods, leading to a greatly improved machining efficiency.
