Launch of the Violet high precision drill series, VA-PDS-CB for counter boring

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured the new Violet high precision drills, VA-PDS-CB for counter boring. These will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).
The VA-PDS-CB series is a new range of drills for high efficiency, high precision counter boring.
For counter boring, 2 flute end mills are commonly used. However, it caused numerous problems such as low feeds, large machined holes and chip jamming.
The Violet drill series is developed based on the drill for hole drilling. This makes is possible to carry out machining at the same feed rate as the standard drill without chip jamming. Additionally, use of the same coating and high speed steel material as the existing Violet high precision drills means prolonged tool life.
