Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured an additional range of M-class 3-D breaker inserts for the MMT threading series. These will be available in VP20RT, a PVD coated grade and will start to be marketed by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).

The MMT threading series M-class 3-D breaker inserts were launched in July 2005, since then they have enjoyed a good reputation in the market. The range of the series has now been expanded with a new Miracle coated grade VP20RT for 14 different types of ISO metric threads.
For threads, stainless steel is widely used due to the problems with toughness and corrosion resistance. When machining stainless steel, weld chipping easily occurs, and moreover when boring chip jamming can result in abnormal fracturing.
To combat this problem, Miracle coated grade VP20RT with high fracture resistance has been added to the series.
