New ISO insert series for cast iron turning

Cast iron with superior durability and vibration absorption properties has been used in various fields such as machine tools and agricultural machinery parts. Therefore, there is a strong need to improve productivity.
Special CVD coated carbide grades are required for the improvement of wear resistance and fracture resistance in high speed cutting.
CVD coated carbide grades for cast iron turning, “MC5005” and “MC5015” offers overwhelmingly high wear resistance and fracture resistance due to application of the MITSUBISHI Material’s original “Nano-Texture Coating Technology” (1) and “TOUGH-GRIP Technology”(2). They achieve high speed and high efficiency turning for cast iron.

Features of CVD coated carbide grades for cast iron turning “MC5005” “MC5015”

The CVD nano-coated layer with high strength is formed by the synergistic effects between “Nano-texture coating technology” and “TOUGH-GRIP Technology”, thereby achieving superior wear resistance in the turning for cast iron.

Adopts Al2O3 thick layer which is the thickest in the world for CVD coated carbide grades for cast iron turning, “MC5005”. “MC5005” provides high wear resistance against ceramics in the condition of continuous cutting of gray cast iron and cutting speed of 600m/min.

CVD coated carbide grades for cast iron turning, “MC5015” is a general purpose grade with an optimum balance of sharpness and wear resistance. Moreover, “MC5015” is a fracture resistant grade suitable for interrupted machining of ductile cast iron like FCD700.

Allows a wide range of different machining applications, using LK breaker to optimize for light cutting, MK breaker is optimized for medium cutting and RK breaker is optimized for roughing. The breakers will be available as standard items.

(1) Nano-Texture Coating Technology
Nano-Texture Coating Technology consists of Nano-texture that offers a coating that has both overwhelmingly high wear resistance and fracture resistance to optimize a crystal growth condition.
 
(2) TOUGH-GRIP Technology
Since the interface structure of a coating is controlled at nano level, this will prevent the delamination of a coating.
