Expansion of MS and GJ chipbreakers in grades US905, VP05RT and VP10RT for Cobalt and Nickel based alloy machining

January 15. 2009

Increased variety of grades and chipbreakers for machining Heat Resistant Alloys made of Cobalt and Nickel.
Technical Information:
  • US905 is the ultimate grade for highest surface speeds
  • VP05RT and VP10RT provide increased toughness for machining at lower surface speeds compared to US905
  • MS chipbreaker combines strenght with a high rake angle for efficient metal removal
  • GJ chipbreaker provides a stronger cutting egde, compared to MS, for roughing applications

Applications to Target:
  • Heat Resistant Alloy machining of materials such as Inconel, Waspaloy, Rene, Astroloy, Monel, Nichrome, Permalloy, Hastelloy, Haynes alloys, Allvac alloys, Carpenter alloys, Pyromet,
  • Aerospace engine hot section components employing complex alloys that are resistant to high temperatures and severe mechanical stress and that exhibit high surface stability
  • Automotive turbocharging components
  • Medical industry components
Benefits:
  • Increased SFM capacity of US905 will provide significantly lower machine cycle times
  • MS chipbreaker for medium to finish machining will provide good chip control
  • GJ chipbreaker for medium to rough machining will provide a strong cutting edge
  • VP05RT and VP10RT will provide a good combination of wear resistance and toughness for optimum performance
